Straighten It Out with Invisalign

We all want a great smile. Unfortunately, many of us aren’t fortunate enough to get that smile naturally. Thankfully, there are options to improve your smile. If crooked teeth or gaps are the issue, there are braces to fix that. If you want it to be a subtle fix, you can get invisible braces, or Invisalign.

Upon an initial examination, your dental professional will come up with a treatment plan and an impression of your teeth will be taken in order to customize your first set of aligners. These aligners will move your teeth gradually week by week until you achieve the smile you have always desired.

An Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position.

Unfortunately, not everyone is able to use Invisalign. Those with minimal amount of straightening are the most ideal candidates. Those with major work needed may need to stick to the traditional versions as they are the most effective with these cases.

If you’re ready for a smile that transforms your appearance, Invisalign is your answer. Although there are many choices out there, no other treatment works as comfortably as Invisalign. And if you are eligible for this treatment plan, Invisalign is the best way to transform your smile without interfering with your day-to-day life.

When Your Smile Needs a Makeover | Manhattan Beach Dentist

Is your smile everything you want it to be? Do you wish that you had the Hollywood smile of your favorite celebrity? If you have some flaws to your smile, don’t worry – their smiles probably needed work as well. Are you ready for a smile makeover? It’s time to make that dental appointment – you need a game plan.

Both bonding and porcelain veneers will likely be suggested for a treatment option. Both are used to cover dental imperfections, but procedures are quite different. Dental bonding uses a smooth tooth-colored solution that is applied to the flawed teeth and can remedy anything from covering stains to covering up small chips and gaps. Bonding is used on patients who need one or two teeth corrected.

While bonding is applied to your actual teeth, veneers fit over the front and underside of your tooth, covering it completely, making it ideal for a full set reconstruction. Both are cosmetic procedures used to treat similar problems, but veneers may be a better alternative in cases where the patient wants to adjust the size or shape of the tooth.

A dental crown can be used to strengthen a tooth, improve appearance and can be placed on top of a dental implant. With advancements in dental technology like the CEREC system, you can get all of this done in one day. The scanner that your dentist uses takes excellent 3D images of your jawline and the computer takes excellent images of the area for the crown, making these the more precise and natural-looking.

Holiday Munchies for Whiter Teeth | Manhattan Beach Dentist

Here we are – smack dab in the holiday season. It’s time for the three Fs: friends, family and lots of festivities. And as it should be expected, tons of pictures will be involved in these wonderful gathering. Having a bright white smile would be ideal. We can go to the dentist and get a whitening treatment and we can try it on our own with an over-the-counter product, but did you know that there are foods that can whiten your smile at the same time? It’s true. So, while you are grazing the food tables at your special events, keep these choices in mind:

Fruit. Apples are known to play a huge role in good health, but it’s the crispiness of the apple doing most of the work. Biting into an apple helps strengthen your gums, while the juiciness of the apple produces saliva, clearing out cavity-forming bacteria. Another seasonal fruit that while also neutralizing odor-causing, staining bacteria is the pear. If you are looking for citrus, try an orange. Not only is the vitamin C good for you, the citric acid also scours your teeth.

Vegetables. When it comes to vegetables, do you think of an onion as a dental secret? If you eat anything oniony, you’re much more apt to brush your teeth afterwards. Ever notice broccoli looks like a toothbrush? Munching on these little “brushes” will give your teeth a quick scrub. Celery – basically Mother Nature’s version of floss.

Dairy. Chockful of calcium, foods like milk, yogurt and cheese strengthen your teeth and gums. The stronger your teeth enamel is, the whiter and healthier they become.
